Mandeep Kaur , a girl from punjab, got married to someone she didn’t know at a very young age, and had two children. She had very little choice in all this developments.
This is not anything new.
Her husband, one day, pushed her and the very young children out of the house. He didn’t want them anymore. She had no money to live.
Absolutely not new. Happens all the time.
But then, somehow, she left for Australia. Weeping, she left the kids with her parents. She left without saying goodbye. A goodbye would have been too painful.
In Australia, she got by doing odd jobs. Later moved to New Zealand, and worked as a door to door saleswoman. She met a retired cop, a white man, and she told him it was her ambition to become a policewoman. He helped her with some logistics.
It took quite a bit of steady climb. But she did it. And the entire family moved to New Zealand.
Hmm….
It is fashionable to bash the so called Western Democracies. Many of us detest the words ‘Liberal’ ‘ ‘Secular’ etc.
Some of us have a sneaking suspicion , that Russia’s Putin is a good modal of strength of leadership. Others worship China, and it’s policy in Ughur, as an ideal.
‘Maybe they overdo it a bit, but you know, the idea is sound’.
These same people could be very critical of Pakistan, or Iran. But some others do hide a grudging admiration for these countries, for the way they are upholding their ‘culture’, and religion.
I have a few scenarios for you to imagine:
And a question after each.
1. You are planning to emmigrate to another country. You have your daughter and granddaughter with you. Your granddaughter wants to be a politician; a leader of people. Which all of the following countries would you plan to go to:
USA, Canada, Australia, Sweden.
Russia, China.
Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan.
Soudi Arabia.
2. You are working in a foreign country. You fell out with a colleague, and he implicates you in false criminal charges and you are in Jail. In which all countries would you have some hope?
USA, Canada, Australia, Sweden.
Russia, China.
Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan.
Soudi Arabia.
3. You are a tourist in another country. One day you get drunk to the tonsils and you publicly abuse a sacred person or symbol of that country. ( Eg. Trump, Obama, Cross, King, Ayatollah, Prophet, Communist party, Xi Ji Ping etc).
Many men surround to hear you.
Which all countries do you hope you are in now?
USA, Canada, Australia, Sweden.
